Part-time WHS support

Part-time WHS consulting and support

A Chartered WHS professional on your team for a set number of hours each month. You get senior expertise when you need it, without the cost of a full-time WHS manager.

Senior WHS expertise, sized to your business

Many small and mid-sized businesses carry the same WHS duties as large companies but can’t justify a full-time safety manager. Safety ends up with an operations manager, an office manager or the owner, who already has a full workload. Documents drift out of date, inspections stop happening and nobody is quite sure whether the business is compliant.

Our part-time WHS service fixes that. You agree a set number of hours each month, and Karim works with your team on-site and remotely to run your safety program, keep it current and give you advice you can act on. You deal with the same person every month, so there’s no re-explaining your business to a new consultant each time.

At a glance

  • Director-led: the work is delivered by Karim personally
  • A set number of hours each month, agreed up front
  • On-site visits plus remote support by phone, email and video
  • Regular reporting on progress and open actions
  • Hours can be scaled up or down as your needs change

What’s included

What part-time WHS support can cover

Every arrangement is tailored. These are the areas clients most often ask us to look after.

WHS advice when you need it

Practical answers when questions come up, from new plant or a change in work to a worker concern or a client’s safety requirements.

Keeping your system current

Policies, procedures, registers and forms kept up to date, so your system reflects how work is actually done.

Risk assessments and SWMS

Preparing and reviewing risk assessments, SWMS and JSAs, including checking subcontractor SWMS before work starts.

Inspections and audits

Scheduled workplace inspections and internal audits, with clear actions, owners and due dates.

Incident support

Help with notifiable incidents, regulator contact and investigations that find root causes rather than someone to blame.

Consultation and reporting

Support for WHS committees, toolbox talks and management reporting, including evidence of officer due diligence.

WHS consultant reviewing site plans with a client

Is part-time WHS support right for you?

It usually suits businesses that:

  • Don’t have a dedicated WHS person, or have one who needs senior backup
  • Carry out higher-risk work such as construction, maintenance, manufacturing or warehousing
  • Need to meet the safety requirements of head contractors, councils or major clients
  • Have had an incident, near miss or SafeWork NSW visit that exposed gaps
  • Are growing quickly and need their safety system to keep up

Need a single project instead, such as an ISO 45001 implementation or a one-off audit? We quote those separately. See all services.

How many hours a month will we need?

It depends on the size of your business, the risk in your work and the state of your current system. Many clients need more time in the first few months while the main gaps are closed, then less once the system is running well. We’ll recommend a level after the baseline review.

Can you work with our existing WHS system?

Yes. We would much rather improve what you already have than start again. If your system has serious gaps, we’ll tell you plainly and prioritise the fixes.

Do you work on-site?

Yes. Site visits are part of most arrangements, particularly for inspections, consultation and incident follow-up. Routine work such as document reviews and advice is often done remotely to keep costs down.

Does using a consultant transfer our WHS duties?

No. Under WHS laws, duties can’t be transferred to someone else. A consultant helps you meet your duties, but the business and its officers remain responsible. Our job is to make that responsibility easier to manage.

What if we have a serious incident?

Contact us as soon as you can. We can help you meet notification and site preservation requirements, deal with the regulator and carry out an independent investigation. Incident support can be built into your monthly hours.
